Today was the grand opening of the new WalMart Neighborhood Market (Hwy 69 South and Patriot Pkwy). Local residents gathered to shop their new WalMart after months of anticipation. This brings a much needed resource further south of town as many who live beyond Patriot Parkway on 69 South have had to travel to Skyland to reach the closest WalMart. Residents living in or around Moundville are especially excited at this new development. Hopefully this addition to the Hillcrest community will be beneficial for everyone!

Be sure to check out the City of Tuscaloosa’s Visit Tuscaloosa website for upcoming events for the summer! There are concerts coming to the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater. Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band will be at the amp soon! The City of Tuscaloosa’s Farmer’s Market will be adding an extra day to their summer schedule. Be sure to check their social media for dates, times, and vendor updates. As always, the Northport Farmer’s Market is open as well, bringing fresh produce and other goods to Northport. Kentuck has a variety of events this summer. Avenue Pub is featuring live music. The City of Tuscaloosa is again hosting Live at the Plaza in Government Plaza this summer. Come out for fun and great music each Friday! The Tuscaloosa Public Library has a variety of activities including Doodlebug Storytime. Check their website for a calendar of events monthly!

New stores are set to open in Tuscaloosa this year! Aldi is opening two new locations. WalMart is bringing a new neighborhood market to the Hillcrest area on Hwy 69 South. Five Below is adding a location in Northport. It’s always exciting to see signs of growth in Tuscaloosa County!

Tuscaloosa will soon be the site of the Saban Center. Demolition of the Tuscaloosa News building is set to commence, clearing the way for the latest addition to downtown Tuscaloosa. The Saban Center is projected to open in 2027 and transform STEM and Arts education in Tuscaloosa. Check out their website for more information or donate to support their mission in our community!
